| Abstract: | Song with violin and keyboard accompaniment, sung by soldier farewelling his wife. 3 verses with refrain. Austen originally wrote 'soldier' as in the published version, but crossed out the word and replaced it with 'sailor'. |
| Description: | Violin part transcribed by G. Dooley from manuscript in Jane Austen's hand in Jane Austen's House Museum collection (JAHM 3:12). Piano accompaniment and melody copied with slight alterations (as performed in 2007-09) from Joyce Donley's arrangement at Austen Music
Online, and compared with Austen's MS in September 2010.
