| Abstract: | "The Changeling" was written by Thomas Middleton and William Rowley in 1622. No manuscript of the play survives, and the earliest printed version dates from 1653, several years after both dramatists had died. The publication rights had meanwhile passed into the hands of Humphrey Moseley, who had it printed by Thomas Newcomb. This paper examines issues of punctuation arising from modernization by the compositor of the quarto printing, and from subsequent editing. |
