Through female characters who decolonise their bodies and reveal their desires, Paulina Chizine’s Niketche:Uma História de Poligamia, reinserts women’s voices in the socio-economic and political affairs of the postcolonial nation. By subverting cultural aspects that constrain women’s freedom, the narrative becomes a symbolic space to the reconstruction of women’s subjectivity. In this sense, Chiziane’s novel establishes connection between the fictional narrative and the extra-narrative world.
