This paper examines the ways in which factors such as gender and class co-exist and interact in the history of both twentieth century Greek education and employment. It begins with the historical data regarding women’s participation in Science, the unilateral theoretical orientation of the Greek educational institutions, the quantitative data and the personal evidence. The paper focuses on the main conclusions of a research referring to women Science graduates who worked as teachers in the Greek secondary education during the pre- and the post-war periods.
